Below is the actual SOQ (Statement of Qualifications) that is found on the November 2024 ballot brochure: As a 25 year Brea resident I have had the opportunity to serve in appointed positions that have prepared me to serve on the Brea City Council. My appointments include Chair of the Cultural Arts Commission, Arts in Public Places Committee, Chair of the Parks, Recreation and Human Services Commission, and Brea Planning Commission. Professionally my career experience has been in leadership roles as a University President, College Professor and Vice President of a publicly traded corporation. I have served in the US Army/California National Guard. My educational experience includes degrees in Education, Counseling and Human Resource Management. Most importantly I am a strong advocate for a safe, prosperous City of Brea. I strongly support the adoption of the Integrated Crime Center (ICC). I support the continued development of a vibrant Brea Downtown. I am a proponent of not just affordable housing but “Workforce Housing” that allows service-related employees to live near their place of employment. The current City Council is made up of elected officials that have been “on the job” for consecutive decades. Although Brea has no term limits policy, I believe it is time for long term incumbents to give way to fresh insights.
